Manipulated Beach Photos

I was able to go to the beach with a good friend on Saturday, and while there I took both pictures below.
The first scene caught my attention as I was walking near the water. It was an unclothed baby doll face down near the water’s edge. I immediately thought “Good picture” and snapped a few shots from different angles. Once I got home, and began examining the photos I’d taken of the doll, I felt that it needed more ‘oomph’ to convey the emotion that I felt was there; therefore, I converted it to black and white, added the photo edges, and then put in the text. That was really more of the feel I wanted when I took the shot. Here’s the finished product:

After I took the photo above, I watched as a little girl and her family played in the waves. As the little girl stood by the water, about to go in, I took the shot below. As I stated with the doll, when I took the picture of the girl, I knew emotionally how I wanted it to look. When I got home, I added a bronze tone to the picture, applied an old photo effect, and then cropped it a little more to give the feeling of isolation. Once I was done, the emotion really came to life! Here it is!

Lastly, I took a picture of the ocean itself. It was a gorgeous day, perfect beach weather, with a breeze coming off the water. Here’s to a perfect day!!
