“D” Family Session, JC Raulston Arboretum, October 15, 2011

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of taking photos of a friend and fellow-co-worker’s family.  I was able to take their family photos last year at this time as well.

They chose to have their session at the JC Raulston Arboretum located near NC State in Raleigh, NC.  The Arboretum is a beautiful place that has several different types of gardens such as the Japanese Garden and also a section that really looks like a desert!  Those gave us several different options to choose from when composing our pictures.

This family was such good sports about all the different ideas I wanted to try and I loved the fact that they had several ideas of their own!!

Their darling little girl, Elie, was constantly ready to have her picture made saying “cheese!” at all the appropriate times! I had to think of other words for her to say. =)

Here are a few of my favorite images from the session.  If you would like to see all of them, go to my facebook page!  And if there are any questions or comments, don’t hesitate to let me know!

I love photographs with balloons and I was SOOOOO excited to be able to do a pose with these!  Balloons and children are so cute and add such a dream-like effect.

This image resonates with me because of the family connection you see here.  The Dad’s presence is here but his face isnt showing, leaving the mom and daughter as the main focus.

I ADORE black and white portraits.  When created correctly, they have so much power and meaning to them.  Here, I love how the mom is in the image and touching Elie but you can tell that Elie’s attention is elsewhere.  Her intense gaze draws you in.

This family was amazing to work with and I hope that I get the opportunity to work with them again in the up-coming year!

Thank you “D” Family!!
