Yes, I know that it has been quiet a long time since I posted anything on this blog. I have no excuse.
Last Thursday, I began a project through the www.365project.com website. In a nutshell, you commit to taking one photograph a day for a year. I decided to take the challenge because 1) I feel that I need practice, 2) and what better way to explore new concepts, settings, etc. than to take a photo a day, and 3) it will keep me “in shape” photographically speaking.
I can’t tell you how excited I was to begin this project. The first day I chose to walk around my yard to scope out something interesting. I walked halfway around with no success but then came across our dying garden and voila! There was a squishy, red tomato just waiting to be photographed! On the second day, I chose roses that had been received by a lady at work. I made myself only take 15-20 shots (I can get carried away when I photograph things like flowers) and then I chose the best one. It turned out lovely. The third day my choice was a brand new chandelier in my little sister’s living room. The fourth day was a photo of a group of wonderful young ladies from my church having fun, and yesterday I got creative with my class ring (I’ve been out of high school for 8 years and 4 months!) on a leaf outdoors! This project has already begun to stretch my creative process and give me new ideas.
I challenge you to take up the 365 project and see how far you can push yourself and your creativity this year. I don’t think that you’ll regret it!
